Teopista Birungi Mayanja is the Chairperson of the Trustees Board of the Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU), which she co-founded. She taught at Primary, Teachers’ Colleges, University, and served as Headteacher, as well as Director of Education and Africa Regional Coordinator of ANCEFA (Africa Network Campaign on Education for All). A strong Education and Human rights advocate, she served on the board of Education International-(EI) and other local and international women and education organizations. She currently is a member of the International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunities.
